All client assignments are carefully considered by our allocation team to ensure the needs of the clients align with the capabilities of our student counsellors.

💼 Eligibility Criteria:

We invite applications from students who are:

• Currently working towards achieving Level 4 Diploma, (or higher) in counselling.
• Approved by their training provider as competent to practice (evidence required*).
• Completed or actively working towards 40 hours of personal therapy.

*Applicants must provide Competence to Practice evidence from the course tutor before the application closing date.

✅ The Application Process:
SCC follows a rigorous and robust selection process to ensure both clients and students receive the highest standard of care. Applications are open all year, with placement interviews are typically held twice a year in Spring and Autumn, though exact timings may vary depending on the Centre’s needs.

• Closing date for Spring applications is 27th March 2026

• Interviews will take place week commencing 27th April 2026

• Inductions will take place over 3 days. Attendance at all 3 days is mandatory to be able to progress into placement so we advise planning in advance. Inductions dates are expected to be Friday 19th, Saturday 20th and Monday 22^nd June from 10am to 2pm.

• Closing date for Autumn applications is 9^th October 2026
• Interviews will take place during week commencing 2^nd November 2026

• Inductions will take place over 3 days. Attendance at all 3 days is mandatory to be able to progress into placement so we advise planning in advance. Inductions dates are expected to be Friday 8th, Saturday 9th and Monday 11th January 2027 from 10am to 2pm.
